Summary
The millwright inspects, repairs and maintains, in accordance with diagrams, sketches, operation manuals, and manufacturer's specifications, machinery and mechanical plant equipment such as pumps, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment, using hand tools, power tools. Precision measuring and testing instruments and adjustment of equipment as required as well as maintenance rounds and inspections. The maintenance millwright will also be responsible for coordinating with 3rd party contractors as required.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection of process equipment (pumps, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems).
  • Repair of process equipment (pumps, hydraulic, pneumatic and mechanical systems).
  • Required maintenance of mobile equipment (loaders, forklifts).
  • Troubleshoot and monitors process equipment.
  • Interacts with equipment operators to determine needs.
  • Utilizes welding and fabrication tools to alter, repair, and fabricate processing equipment.
  • Performs the preventative maintenance program established by the company.
  • Documents and reports all maintenance work performed and advises of future requirements in a timely manner.
  • Tests and adjusts equipment to meet performance specifications.
  • Maintains a clean and safe working environment.
  • Safe and responsible operation of company equipment at all times.
  • Abides to OHSA (Occupational Health and Safety Act) workplace health and safety standards.
  • Willingness and availability to participate in on-call rotation.
  • Is comfortable working with 3rd party contractors as needed to install/troubleshoot equipment & services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Ontario provincial or inter-provincial (Red Seal) millwright trade certificate.
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in a maintenance role.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Forklift License, an asset.
  • Confined space, an asset.
  • Working at heights, an asset.
  • LOTO, an asset.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Time and stress management.
  • Intermediate Computer Skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Ability to write clearly and legibly.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Systems process knowledge.
  • Mechanical and electrical skills.
  • Experience in hydraulics, electrical, pumps, valves, piping, threading and pneumatic systems.
  • Excellent trouble-shooting skills.
  • Basic mechanical knowledge in wood industry preferred.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Experience in fabrication and welding of various metals (including pipe welding) .
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Write simple correspondence.
  • Work independently and be flexible regarding work assignments.
  • Basic math skills.
  • Operate a forklift.
  • Perform confined space entries.
