Thompson Construction Group has an immediate opening for a certified Heavy Duty Mechanics and subcontractors working from our Fort McMurray area of operations.

Responsibilities:

• Perform preventative maintenance
• Diagnose and repair equipment deficiencies
• Communicate with site management to coordinate maintenance priorities
• Maintain maintenance records
• Promote safety awareness by ensuring compliance of corporate health and safety policies and procedures

Requirements:

• Heavy Equipment Technician (Off Road) – Journeyman (Red Seal) Certified
• Minimum 5 years of experience working with CAT, John Deere and Hitachi equipment
• Minimum 5 years in Heavy Civil Earthworks Construction and/or Infrastructure
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
• Valid Class 3 operators license with air brakes (candidate to provide current abstract)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Willingness to work in the Ft McMurray area and live in remote camps, working a rotational schedule
• CSTS/OSSA or BSO Certification
• Must be in good health and physical condition to perform duties assigned
• Must be able to pass a pre-access drug and alcohol test

Subcontractor Truck Requirements:

• Current CVIP and Picker Inspection.
• Oxygen/acetylene cabinets that meet OH&S requirements
• Full complement of tools for repairing Off Road Equipment.
• $5 million liability insurance
