Graphic Designer Job at Redeemer University College
The Position
The Graphic Designer (GD) is an integral part of a collaborative team serving a multi-faceted organization. Working on projects for both internal and external audiences, the GD develops clean, creative and consistent designs that give visual expression to Redeemer’s brand through a wide array of touchpoints and collateral, both for print and digital media. Responsible for the fulfillment of in-house printing and managing the information screens across campus the GD enjoys a wide variety of projects from day to day.
Responsibilities
Print Collateral & Communications
- Designs print advertisements, recruitment and development brochures, postcards and posters, recruitment mailings, fundraising mail appeals, donor newsletters, board communications, event collateral, corporate stationery, etc.
Digital Collateral and Website Management
- Apply designs to digital channels like social media, emails, the website, the Redeemer App and other digital properties such as landing pages and Google display ads.
- Support the web design manager through adding, updating and editing content (images and text) for redeemer.ca and any other websites managed by the marketing team.
Printers & Screens
- Main operator of the Canon printers (colour and large format) for the in-house printing needs of students and internal departments
- Manage the ongoing maintenance, setup and troubleshooting of printers with IT
- Order paper and ink and manage internal order accounting with Finance department
- Manage Redeemer’s internal announcement TV screens across campus
3rd Party Suppliers
- Gather and send all components of final artwork to 3rd party suppliers (mainly printers)
- Supervise the review of proofs with internal stakeholders and provide final approval to the supplier.
Asset Management
- Maintain the file structure and proper organization of digital assets for the marketing and communications team, year over year using Google Drive.
- Archive older assets in collaboration with IT and store new assets received from media partners (e.g. finished videos, event photographs, etc.)
Preferred Skills and Attributes
- Strong design sensibility in both print and digital applications
- Ability to maintain quality and consistency standards of a brand across formats and channels
- Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite of products in a Mac environment
- Fluent and quick learner with other software such as Microsoft Office, Google Suite, project management software, WordPress, Mailchimp, etc.
- Basic knowledge of HTML and CSS programming languages is an asset.
- Interpersonal and networking skills to engage different internal and external audiences
- Self-motivated to find information while having a customer service attitude
- Strong time and project management skills to manage multiple projects and plans
Education, Training & Certifications
- A diploma or bachelor’s degree in graphic design, digital media, or a similar discipline plus two or more years of professional experience. Experience with a missional or non-profit organization would be an asset.
- Experience in communications for missional or non-profit organization is an asset
- Experience should be demonstrated via a current personal portfolio online or in PDF format

- A thorough understanding of the mission and faith tradition of Redeemer University (mission, values, and Reformed Christian identity)
