Location: Fort Erie, ON

Position Summary
The Factory Automation Technician performs all manner of machine and equipment installation, relocation, repair, maintenance, calibration, adjustment, troubleshooting, and similar work at the facility. This may include the complete life cycle of equipment from new installations, to decommissioning, removal, and disposal, and everything in between.

Job Duties
- Perform all manner of equipment/machine related work including but not limited to: new installations, testing, commissioning, repairs, troubleshooting, decommissioning, removal, disposal, etc. This is mainly focused on factory automation equipment but may include any equipment or systems at the facility.
- Prepare bills of materials for specific projects, assist with creating purchase orders, obtaining pricing, sourcing and ordering materials
- Maintain an organized, safe, and clean workplace
- Receive deliveries and verify bill of lading against delivered items
- Store incoming materials in secure designated areas
- Work with other trades and staff on the site in a cooperative manner
- Work in accordance with all rules and regulations governing industrial establishments
- Perform work to the standards mandated by any applicable safety codes, and other regulations which may apply.
- Perform all tasks while ensuring safe work practices in accordance with any applicable Company’s SOP’s and regulations
- Take direction from the Head of Facility or designate on the ongoing priority of various tasks assigned
- Keep records of all work done for future reference and for incorporation into the Company’s master computer aided design (“CAD”) files for the building and equipment. This shall include but not be limited to: labeling physical items with circuit numbers etc., making sketches and recording details and dates, marking up the latest paper version of CAD drawings so they may be updated, uploading details of repairs into the equipment tracking system, etc.
- Maintain a positive and progressive team atmosphere across all departments
- Comply with all Human Resources policies including confidentiality and non-disclosure
- Maintain a clean working environment, possessing an attitude of high standards of cleanliness
- Poses very good communication and interpersonal skills
- Assist in tasks the Head of Facility designates as an immediate priority to preserve the physical or environmental security of the building, contents, or staff
- Attend any training designated by the Company
- Other duties as may be assigned from time to time
Qualifications
- Proficient knowledge of related codes and standards including but not limited to Electrical Safety Code (Ontario), ASME, CSA, etc., permitted alternatives, and other applicable regulations.
- Proficient knowledge of rules and regulations governing industrial establishments
- Working at heights, any material handling and other certifications are an asset
- Strong knowledge of electrical, mechanical and pneumatic systems driven by PLCs or other computers is mandatory. This must include adjustment, repair and troubleshooting experience.
- Knowledge of other construction trades is an asset: (plumbing, gas fitting, datacom)
- Basic computer skills are mandatory, extensive skills are a definite asset.
- Familiarity with receiving material and checking manifest for accuracy
- Clean criminal record
- G driver’s license and reliable vehicle (driving will not generally be required but making a trip to a supplier on occasion might come up). Reliable attendance is mandatory.
- Excellent workmanship skills and pride in not cutting corners is mandatory
- Excellent workplace housekeeping is essential
- Team worker able to co-exist with other tradespeople and staff and assist whenever able
- Strong attention to detail
- Able to work independently or with a team
- Post-secondary education in a related field is mandatory (Computing, Electrical, Electronics, Robotics, Control Systems, Fluid Power, Refrigeration, Millwright, etc.)
Working Conditions
- Shifts may be subject to business needs and you may be asked to work evenings, weekends, and holidays
- PPE Required: PPE as required by the company and OHSA
