Chisholm Services for Children is a not-for-profit organization located in Halifax providing a Child and Youth Caring Program for children under the age of twelve (12) who are in need of placement outside of the home and who hold a care status with the Department of Community Services under the Children and Family Services Act.
As the Director of Clinical Services, you will work on site in a Child and Youth Caring Program collaborating with a dedicated team of Youth Care Workers and Supervisors, develop care plans, support team members in a service delivery model based on best practice from a trauma informed care lens, and assist in program development to best meet the needs of children 6-12 years of age who require placement outside of the home. The Director of Clinical Services also facilitates a monthly Trauma Informed Care Group for parents approved and waiting to adopt, and acts as a consultation to our LINKS Literacy Program. As the Director of Clinical Services, you will make a difference in the lives of children supported by Chisholm today, and long after they transition from our service.

- Master's Degree in a clinical discipline (Social Work, Education/Counselling, Psychology, Nursing or Nurse Practitioner – community mental health) with experience working with at-risk children, adolescents and families.
- Current registration and in good standing with a professional regulatory body (i.e., Nova Scotia College of Social Workers).
- Prior experience in Child and Youth Caring Programs for children/youth.
- Demonstrated expertise in individual, group and family interventions and well-developed assessment and clinical consultation skills.
- Ability to define and evaluate key program metrics relative to service delivery and client outcomes.
- Effective communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and an ability to participate as a part of a dynamic team.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain positive and supportive working relations with co-workers and community collaborators.
- Demonstrated sound professional judgment and commitment to excellence.
- Working knowledge of the Nova Scotia Children and Family Services Act.
- Ability to work in a face paced work environment with direct practice with children that have histories of complex trauma who may present with coping strategies that may include emotional and physical behaviors that pose risk to self and others.
- Additional requirements include a current and clear Criminal Records Check / Vulnerable Sector Check, Child Abuse Registry Check, Valid Driver License, and Drivers Abstract.
